Chris Olsen skyrocketed to fame with his hilarious (and often tear-filled) videoed therapy sessions, so it’s especially fitting that his debut memoir — available to pre-order for $28 on Amazon ahead of its September 1 release — is entitled I Think My Therapist Hates Me. Throughout its pages, the 28-year-old reflects on coming out, toxic relationships, addiction, and mental health, giving us a candid look into the messy journey of self-discovery that’s made him one of our favorite follows.
The gays know how to make everything better, including activewear. That’s why these gym and run-friendly shorts from queer-founded brand &ndy — pronounced “Andy” — were an instant add-to-cart. “I’m at the Nashville airport, and what do I see? Draper James, the wonderful Reese Witherspoon’s store.” It’s an otherwise unassuming audio from Drew Barrymore’s social media account that a TikToker named Matthew decided to commemorate every time they visit the aforementioned airport. (Which has been at least 20 times.)
It’s absurd, ridiculous, and brings me an absurdly ridiculous amount of joy whenever it comes across my feed.
It’s hard to imagine a world without Dolly Parton, songwriting legend, country music queen, unabashed LGBTQ+ ally, and the type of person who inspired us to find our own sparkle, even in the darkest places. Heartfelt tributes and touching memories have poured out since her passing earlier this week, including the resurfacing of “Travelin’ Thru,” her Oscar-nominated tune for 2005’s Transamerica, which followed a trans woman on a road trip with her long-lost son.
It’s hard to imagine any artist could so skillfully pull off a soulful country hymn in the name of LGBTQ+ acceptance, but then again, there will never be another Dolly.
Did I binge-watch the entirety of Adults Season 2 in one sitting when it dropped on Hulu this past Thursday? The answer is not no.
That said, my lack of impulse control isn’t entirely to blame. The buzz around the next chapter of Gen Z’s new favorite hangout comedy has been omnipresent, from incessant fan edits of Owen Thiele’s Anton and Paul Baker to even promotions on our Grindr feeds. I’m pleased to report the New York-set sitcom not only matches its first season’s hilarity, but further finds its footing as an outlandish but relatable look into the years between becoming an adult and discovering who you are.
But if these middling twenty-somethings still haven’t won you over, perhaps a very shirtless Jack Innanen might do the trick.
It’s nearly September, which means it’s already been Halloweentime in big-box stores for at least two weeks. Still, I was not prepared to receive an ad for pumpkin spice scented Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray ($5.94 on Amazon) while camped out in front of my AC unit this week.
Not only does this super-strong spray deliver “the power of an overnight soak in minutes, but “it really smells like pumpkin spice,” according to one reviewer. OK, I’ll bite. LOL.
Being the gays’ chosen rising pop-girl supreme is tough work, as evidenced by this clip of Eli performing one of her Y2K-inspired bops during a show at New York City’s Webster Hall… and accidentally flinging her mic into the audience. All in a day’s work of being a stage girl!
This week, we lost Tim Curry, the Frank to our N-Furter and the rose-tint to our world. In memory of the 80-year-old icon, I’ve found myself continually returning to The Rocky Horror Picture soundtrack, available on pink and black split vinyl for $44.99 at Newbury Comics. Yes, the 1975 cult film blessed us with addictive and campy earworms like “Sweet Transvestite” and “Time Warp,” but more than that, it’s been a North Star for queer adolescents in search of community, and for that, there will always be a light in my heart (and over at the Frankenstein Place).
Apparently Target is replacing their signature, street-side red balls with phallus-reminiscent poles, once again proving the importance of having a gay man on your marketing team.
As someone who identifies as both Britney Spears AND “not that innocent,” I felt especially seen by both the I Am Britney Crewneck and I’m Not That Innocent Shorts, available in the singer’s merch shop for $75 and $50, respectively. Bonus: Both are 25% off for a limited time to celebrate 10 years of her album Glory.
What can I say? The woman knows what the gays want!
