The ‘Iron Man’ Game Lives, And Its First Look Leaked

Summary

A leaked trailer for EA and Motive's Iron Man game—first announced in 2022—surfaced on social media Friday, showing unfinished footage of Tony Stark flying and battling armored enemies, alongside characters including Rhodey, Pepper Potts, Madame Masque, and Blizzard. EA and Motive acknowledged the leak "didn't go as planned" but promised they have "a lot more to show you." The game, slated for PC and consoles, is the only surviving title from EA's previously announced Marvel trilogy, after its Black Panther game was cancelled and developer Cliffhanger Games was shuttered, with no news ever emerging about the third project. The article also notes that Skydance's Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, another Marvel game whose status has been questioned, remains absent.

As Marvel prepares to re-enter single-player games with Wolverine’s upcoming solo outing, attention’s also turned to another A-lister’s future game: Iron Man.

First announced back in 2022, the Motive and EA title has gone quiet ever since, and you wouldn’t be wrong to have forgotten about it. But on Friday morning, social media lit up with a leaked trailer (with heavily unfinished assets) seemingly meant for a grand reveal sometime this year. We won’t link to it, but it features Tony Stark donning his armored suit, flying around in the sky (barrel rolls, baby!) and using it to fight equally armored enemies. There’s also a look at some familiar faces typically in Tony’s orbit, like Rhodey and Pepper Potts, and a glimpse of villains like Madame Masque and Blizzard.

Well, that didn't go as planned. But now you know, and we've got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready. pic.twitter.com/tU4TtUoZYZ

On Friday afternoon, EA and Motive acknowledged Iron Man’s leak “didn’t go as planned,” but promised they have “a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.” This game, when it releases, will be the only one from EA’s previously announced trilogy that it’s since backed out of. A Black Panther title was in very early development before it and its studio got shuttered last year, and there was never any news of the third game. Meanwhile, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which is being developed by Skydance and is another Marvel game whose status has been called into question like Iron Man, remains MIA.

We’ll have more on the Iron Man game as official news emerges ahead of its PC and console release.
