This time round she’s opted for SSSLIP and Beton Brut’s label rut with ‘Jaw Flex / Werfa’ — two original tracks accompanied by remixes from Buckley and Beaabea. Opener ‘Jaw Flex’ is a vast, open-ended exploration built on a wobbly low-end and dappled with sparse percussion and moody atmospherics — one for the weirder hours of the night. ‘Werfa’, meanwhile, writhes between low-slung bass and mechanical, alien-like whirrs, allowing these quirky motifs to ripple freely across an eerie soundscape. Buckley’s ‘Jaw Flex’ 4x4 treatment and Beaabea’s bass-driven interpretation of ‘Werfa’ builds on the record’s adventurous nature, refracting dubstep and bass into unfamiliar territory.
