In a joint Friday letter, Vice President JD Vance and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin asked the EPA’s acting inspector general, Nicole Murley, to conduct a “comprehensive, independent” probe into the Biden administration’s handling of the incident.

You may recall that Trump and prominent cultists spent months attempting to blame then-Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg for the derailment at the same time that Republicans were opposing “burdensome” rail safety regulations.
Shortly after the incident, an out-of-office Trump appeared at the crash site to distribute bottles of Trump-branded water.
In November 2023, House Republicans approved MTG’s bill that would have cut Buttigieg’s salary to $1.
That move came just weeks after MTG’s campaign manager agreed to pay penalties for running a fake charity over the derailment.
They even gave the mayor of East Palestine a speaking slot at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
The people of East Palestine deserve a government that is transparent and accountable to them.
