Summary
Rock Paper Shotgun staff shared their gaming plans for the Bank Holiday weekend in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, coming off the back of Gamescom. James is returning to Elden Ring, Mark will continue a secret game alongside possibly Forza or NBA 2K, and Julian plans to keep playing Blood Dungeon after it dominated his Gamescom week. Ollie, recovering from illness, will work through Mortal Shell 2 for his walkthrough and relax with Trackmania, while Jeremy is taking a break from games entirely to install garden edging with his wife. Edwin teased an unnamed game he described only as rhyming with "Freddo's Pielines," and staff members Dion and Callum did not submit responses.
Saturdays are for actually remembering that it's a Bank Holiday weekend, rather than forgetting and coming in on Monday and getting viciously annoyed with Julian and Mark for seeming to ignore your Gchat messages. (They do that anyway, regardless of whether it's a day off.)
I actually love forgetting that it's a Bank Holiday, as long as I remember before at least 11am. It makes the holidaziness all the holidazier. What will you be doing with yours, assuming you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland? If you reside in other regions, commiserations - please feed the Maw for us on Monday. I'll leave the trough out. Anyway, let's see how the rest of the Treehouse are celebrating the Gamescom hangover.
James:
All this 'Tarnished Edition' malarkey is giving me the Elden Ring itch again. Surely every edition is Tarnished, anyway, as you are Tarnished. Charged to stand before the Elden Ring. Become Elden Lord. What a sad state of affairs.
Mark:
Probably a bit more of that secret game I mentioned last week, with perhaps a bit of Forza or NBA 2K sprinkled in if I get time. Apologies for being all hush-hush two weeks running.
Julian:
Considering I was late to the start of Opening Night Live because I was playing Blood Dungeon, then played it throughout the stream on the Steam Deck, and was late up playing on nights when I should really be getting some sleep ahead of Gamescom appointments, I think I'll be playing Blood Dungeon.
Dion:
Why hast thou forsaken me, Dion? Wast ever greater unkindness than this, that an editor be denied his clean sweep of Wappities?
Ollie:
Still recovering from my illness, so I think the majority of gaming time this weekend will continue to be spent on Mortal Shell 2, so my walkthrough can catch up with the playerbase. Otherwise, probably some nice relaxing Trackmania.
Callum:
Et tu, Callum? Ingratitude, thou marble-hearted fiend, more hideous when thou show'st thee in a guides writer than the sea-monster!
Jeremy:
I plan to take some time off from video games this weekend, because I've had a little bit too much of third person action adventures with tough-as-nails bosses and parrying mechanics lately. Instead, my wife and I will be installing new edging in our garden, which is itself something of a boss battle, but at least one that requires less expert timing.
Edwin:
This weekend I'm playing a game that rhymes with Freddo's Pielines, published by, um, let's call them Contradiction Interactive. Yes, I know that "contradiction" isn't really a synonym for what I'm referring to, stop busting my bricks.
And you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend…?
